The 1930's - Children at the Eastfield estate
1933
- Hundred Houses Society formed.
- Councillor Mrs D T Stevenson appointed Chairman.
1934
- Cambridge Corporation advance a mortgage for 40 years at 3.5% to fund the first development.
- Work started at Eastfield to develop 100 homes at a cost of £31,000.
1935
- Eastfield completed.
- Purchase of land for Fallowfield Estate concluded.
- A Tenants Association formed to “infuse a spirit of friendliness on the estate and to discuss the planning of a children's playground, the planting of trees and to form a social side”.
1936
- Work started on the first phase at Fallowfield for 104 houses with a tender figure of £35,775. In addition, the tender for the roads and sewers amounted to £6,973.17s. 10d.
1937
- Rents varied from 12/0d (60p) to 10/6d (52p) per week.
- Cambridge City Council provided the Society with an additional loan for 40 years at 3.5%.
- Fallowfield completed.
1938
- 22.5 acres of land, known as Scotland Farm, Chesterton, was purchased.
